Taken from “The Reader’s Page” , Journal Inquirer, page 18, Wednesday, December 19, 2007. "A home for the Ramblers" On behalf of the Enfield Rambler organization, I would like to thank all the members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society in Enfield for their support, commitment, dedication, and assistance. About two years ago when the flood wiped out part of our practice and game field at JFK Middle School, the Ramblers were left with no home. The town of Enfield could provide a field on Sundays for our games but there was no place to practice for two reasons: Enrico Fermi was under the renovation process, and we practice at night and in the fall it gets dark early. Without missing a beat the Mount Carmel Society stepped up to the plate and came to our rescue. Not only did the society provide us with a field with lights, it also let us store our equipment trailers on its property, provided us with additional storage room, and allowed us to hold our monthly meetings in its hall. Within a week’s notice we had found a new home and were welcomed with open arms. Since then Mount Carmel has become a huge sponsor of the Enfield Ramblers. At the end of each year we hold a banquet for our cheerleaders and football players. This organization not only provides us with a venue but its members volunteer to cook and serve the food so everyone can enjoy the banquet and it has been a great success. I cannot thank the members of the Mount Carmel Society enough for all you have done for us. I know this is only a small part of what you do for the youth in Enfield but to us it is enormous. Once again, thank you from the entire Enfield Rambler organization. This family-oriented organization with deep roots in Enfield is very involved in community activities, especially in area of our youth. I strongly urge anyone of Italian heritage (which is a requirement) to join such a fine organization. Patrick J.
